The two designers enhance each other's poetry and aesthetics, making you yearn for long wanders through the woods. In their designs, the magnificent beauty of forests and woods comes to life.
By choosing to create patterns that are less geometric, wolvis treads carefully off the beaten track for the first time.
Unfolded, the scarves reveal figurative tree structures: the print of the bark or the branches, the sun throwing shadow spots through the foliage of the silver birch. But draped and worn, the familiar wolvis abstraction still remains.
Anyone who likes to daydream and wander, understands the invigorating power of the woods …
〉Bright green, deep brown and fiery red tones mix with sultry woody scents. When it rains, a fresh pine perfume emerges.
〉Those who love the overwhelming grandeur of forests and trees will also understand the effect of a long walk, alone or with a companion, silently pondering, puzzling and contemplating.
〉Whilst wandering, secrets will surface, as if whispered to you by the gnarled trunks themselves.
〉The silence of the forest is relative. It is a stillness that speaks, not in words, but in sounds: whispered secrets and rustling crests.
• Everything that can be used will be used.
• Hardly anything will be lost or go to waste.
• The collection size will rely entirely on the yarn that is already present in the factory.
• Only after we receive an order for a blanket, will it be knitted. Everything will be made on demand.
• Little by little the remaining yarn in the factory will be processed, with a little help from you.
The story behind our ‘leftover’ blankets…
As the days were shortening and the nights are getting increasingly colder, we had spotted the cardboard boxes full of leftover knitting yarns piling up in the Wolvis factory. Boxes that were written upon, and over the years were overwritten with a red marker. Boxes stored in dark rooms, on wooden shelves and pallets. They needed a change of destiny. Something warm, something cosy, something homey.
We took the leftover knitting yarns out of their now half dented boxes and started playing with them.
We put different colours on and next to each other in search of the right combinations.
The blankets are made from different types of knitting yarn such as acrylic, wool and cotton. By combining these types of yarn unexpected textures are emerging, providing a new kind of contrast.
This contrast is not only determined by the colours we have put together but also by the different types of yarn that interact with each other.
Our collection ‘I am in the woods, it’s silent here.’ is extended by an extra layer of warmth. Five kimonos in five new colours have been added to the series of scarves, beanies and blankets. Five timeless basics that transcend the seasons. For cosy mornings or for elegant evenings.
