From time to time, we portray an #itsawolvisfriend*.
Meet Isabelle, art director.
Who are you? What do you do?
I am Isabelle De Vos, 44 and mother of Louis, Julia and Lucien. As an art director, I have a strong passion for the power of images. With my studio Voshaes, I market my clients, focusing on their visual identity. I love collaborations with people who are passionate about their brand. I often work with small companies: they are very flexible to work with.
How are you connected to wolvis?
Griet and I are neighbours, we live in the same street in Ghent. Two years ago, she came by to talk about some aspects of her business, and recently I styled her last photoshoot. This collaboration has grown organically.
What do you associate wolvis with?
Wolvis, to me, stands for creativity and slow fashion. Often clients challenge me to create their brand’s story, but in Griet’s work, the story is the core. She finds inspiration in her own life. First comes the story, then the product. A very particular way of working, I love how she does it.
Who would you like to give a wolvis to? Why?
It’s supposed to be a surprise… I’ll give a wolvis to my sister. I’ve chosen a piece that works well with her eye colour.
When and how did you get to know wolvis?
I’ve known wolvis for a long time, due to my professional connection with the Belgian fashion sector. I knew wolvis before I even knew Griet was my neighbour. One day, I walked to the bakery and suddenly discovered her shop window (laughs).
What’s your favorite item from the Lieux de Mer collection?
I love Res. Cassis, the yellow scarf from Lieux de Mer. But those colours don’t suit me. So I have chosen the dark blue woven Res. Monaco from the Lieux de Mer collection.
How do you like to wear your wolvis? What do you combine your scarf with?
I like to combine my scarf with my camel coat, my favorite basic piece. This scarf finishes off my outfit.
Why does this scarf have a special meaning to you?
I like the fact that it’s a summer piece. We tend to associate scarves with winter. But if you don’t like to wear a jacket during summertime, a lighter scarf comes in very handy. We shot this new collection in Griet’s grandmother’s apartment. The design of the scarves was inspired by the buildings alongside the Belgian coast. I love that all these ideas come together in this scarf.
What’s your most beautiful memory so far with your wolvis scarf?
Oh, memories… I have been wearing the same perfume my grandmother wore, since I was 30. (Before that, I considered myself too young.) Often, when I smell my own perfume, I think of her. This scent is a real Madeleine de Proust to me. And a scarf is the eminent garment to get a whiff of your own perfume…
