Drift is a soft, hesitant movement through an in-between phase, a twilight. An ode to the quiet beauty of moths.
Wolvis’ new winter collection floats gently between light and dark, between camouflage and vibrant colors. Everything is allowed.

From linocut to knitwear
For Drift, Dutch artist Merlijne Marell created two hand-carved linocuts of moth wings.
Merlijne Marell and Wolvis share a love for patterns. While Wolvis often finds inspiration in the rhythms of architecture and landscapes, illustrator Merlijne Marell focuses on insect wings, plants, and other natural structures.

Together, we zoomed in on moth wings. Look closely enough and they almost seem made of pixels, shapes we immediately recognized as knitting stitches.
From this wonder, Merlijne created a series of linocuts, hand-carved and printed in black and white. Each image is a graphic landscape of lines, a play of texture and rhythm, nearly symmetrical but always true to the moth.

Wolvis translated these images into knitting patterns in soft merino wool. The color palette refers to the moth’s world: from camouflage tones to bright highlights, from silence to flicker.

The result is a knitwear collection with patterns you want touch, observe, and revisit, always changing. This is a collection that grows, moves with you, and continues to surprise you.
