From time to time, we portray an #itsawolvisfriend*.
Meet Isabeau, textile design student and intern at Wolvis.
Who are you? What do you do?
My name is Isabeau Goddé, I’m a 22-year-old Textile Design student at KASK Ghent, starting my final year. I am passionate about knitwear. I do knit by hand, but I’m even more fascinated by machine knitting. In my own designs, I create knitwear for fashion or interior.
How are you connected to wolvis?
Since July 2020, I am doing an internship at wolvis. I manage the social media channels, sharing updates about what’s happening at wolvis. I make sure the orders are shipped in time and I try to assist Griet where I can. I did the styling for this photoshoot, for example. I’m having the time of my life: I get to know the business from a to z. Yes, I’m enthusiastic! (laughs) Maybe one day, I can become part of the wolvis team…
What do you associate wolvis with?
The brand has a warm feeling to it, and is very accessible. Exactly like the atmosphere on the work floor. The unique connection between playfulness and geometry is what fascinates me so much about the designs.
Who would you like to give a wolvis to? Why?
I don’t have to think about this for a second: to my mother! She owns an enormous collection of scarves. I guess you could call it an obsession. A wolvis -I’d like to give her the rather neutral 15th of May- would make a wonderful addition to her collection, a scarf to cherish forever…
When and how did you get to know wolvis?
During a school assignment about young designers, I discovered the wolvis website. I adored the style of the last two collections and contacted Griet. I interviewed her about launching the brand and about the business plan. We clicked immediately. The moment I was looking for a place to do my internship, of course I came back to wolvis!
What’s your favorite item from the Lieux de Mémoire collection?
Difficult! But to me, the 23rd of September stands out. And apparently, I’m not the only one: this scarf is extremely popular. Why? I think it’s the magnetic power of the vivid blue. The scarf is rather neutral, which makes it easy to combine with different colours and styles. At the same time, it’s a real eyecatcher.
How do you like to wear your wolvis? What do you combine your scarf with?
I like to wear the scarf the way I’m wearing it on the picture: combined with simple, neutral colours. This way, the scarf gets all the attention. And of course: with a snuggly jumper to make it extra cosy!
Why does this scarf have a special meaning to you?
This is my first wolvis, so by definition, it’s special! It will always remind me of this beautiful internship.
What’s your most beautiful memory so far with your wolvis scarf?
(laughs) You won’t believe it, but I don’t even have it yet! This scarf is so very popular that we can hardly keep up with the orders. I have borrowed the wolvis on the picture just for the photoshoot… Now I’m waiting impatiently for my own piece!
